Throughout December, Dilijan welcomed residents and visitors to “Winter in Dilijan,” a winter carnival organized by the Green Rock Foundation across four consecutive weekends, from December 6 to December 28. What began as a small seasonal gathering gradually grew into a lively series of winter weekends that filled the town with music, movement, and a sense of shared celebration.
The first weekend, on December 6 and 7, set the tone. A Christmas market opened in the center of Dilijan with artisan crafts, handmade gifts, local products, and festive treats. More than a thousand visitors came from Dilijan and nearby cities, turning the square into a welcoming winter meeting place. Games, music, dancing, and creative collaborations brought together families, friends, and travelers who happened to be in town.
The following weekend, December 13 and 14, the celebration expanded even further. Together with DiliTon, Dilijan welcomed more than five thousand guests. The streets were filled with winter energy as music, food, and seasonal activities brought people together. What stood out most was not just the scale of the event, but the atmosphere of openness and community that developed throughout the town.
On December 20 and 21, the Christmas market returned with a warm and festive mood. Visitors gathered around stalls offering pastries, holiday sweets, and local products. Music filled the square while people spent time with friends and family, enjoying a relaxed winter evening in the town center.
The final weekend, December 27 and 28, arrived with long-awaited snowfall that transformed Dilijan into a true winter setting. The fresh snow added a special atmosphere to the closing days of the carnival. The BeBook Mobile Theatre presented the performance Oliver, while Nigma Quest Club organized interactive games that engaged visitors of all ages. Market stalls offered handmade gifts and festive treats, and music in the background kept the square lively as the season came to a close.
Across the four weekends, Зима в Дилижане became more than a series of events. It created a rhythm for the town during the winter season, bringing together residents, visitors, artists, and local businesses. The carnival filled the center of Dilijan with activity and offered a reminder that winter can be a time for gathering, creativity, and shared experiences.
For many who visited, December in Dilijan will be remembered not only for the lights and music, but for the atmosphere of a town coming together to celebrate the season.
